Work Permit Directions

DIRECTIONS FOR OBTAINING A WORK PERMIT

Work permits are required by State Law for students under the age of 18.  For more information regarding the state law: please visit  http://www.mass.gov/lwd/labor-standards/dls/youth-employment/.

Work permits will ONLY be issued electronically; students should not visit the District's central office to obtain a work permit.  It is strongly encouraged that the student completes the work permit process.

Students Attending Grafton High School

  1. Download and print the Work Permit Application linked to the left of these directions. 
  2. Take the Application to the prospective employer to be completed.
    • The application must  include a Promise of Employment signed by the employer.
    • The application must be signed by the minor’s parent or guardian. 
    • The application must be signed by the minor.
  3. Applicants under 16 must also have the Physicians Certificate of Health section completed and signed by a physician.
  4. Complete the Work Permit Form in the PowerSchool Student Portal.
    • From a web browser go to https://grafton.powerschool.com/public/home.html.
    • Log in with your (student) PowerSchool credentials.
    • Click on Forms on the left side navigation pane.
    • Click on Work Permit Ages 14-17.
    • Complete the form and click submit.
  5. Scan and email the following documents to [email protected].
    • Work Permit Application.
    • Proof of Age (exp. Birth Certificate, Drivers License).
  6. Work permits will ONLY be issued electronically.  Please do not visit the Central Office to complete the work permit process.
  7. Upon receipt of all documents, a Work Permit will be issued and emailed directly to the student.
  8. The student must sign the document and present it to the employer to be kept on file for the duration of employment.

Students Who DO NOT Attend Grafton High School

  1. Download and print the Work Permit Application linked to the left of these directions.
  2. Take the Application to the prospective employer to be completed.

  4. Complete the Google Form found here and submit electronically.

    • Work Permit Application.
    • Proof of Age (exp. Birth Certificate, Drivers License).
    • Proof of School Attendance ( exp. School ID, Grade Report).
  6. Upon receipt of all documents, a Work Permit will be issued and emailed directly to the student.
  7. The student must sign the document and present it to the employer to be kept on file for the duration of employment.
